Zipf's Law
The energy field has it's basis in physicslinks. Most to the time physics has it's basis in natural law. One of the more simplistic yet elegant laws is Zipf's law. Zipf's law states that for populations, the population is inversely proportional to the rank. Therefore successive populations are roughly proportional to 1, ½, 1/3, ¼, 1/5....

The following table shows Zipf's law as applied to U.S. city population and the Modified Law which more accurately reflects the U.S. city population sample set:

Rank City

Population

(1990)

7 Detroit 1,027,974 1,428,571 1,214,261
13 Baltimore 736,014 769,231 747,639

Zipf's law interestingly and also applies to business sector competition as well as yet unimagined other applications.
