Wind Energy Honor Roll
Drum Roll Please...!

2007's wind powers of the Earth are:

1. Germany - 20,622MW
2. Spain - 11,615MW
3. USA - 11,273MW
4. India - 6,053MW
5. Denmark - 3,136MW
6. Italy - 2,123MW
7. UK - 2,016MW
8. Netherlands - 1,564MW

A big Kampai (or should that be Cheers!) to the UK for breaching the 2 GW wind energy barrier. It is now the 7th country in the planet to be able to do so, thanks to a 36-turbinelinks 72 MW wind farm called the Braes O'Doune. The 2 GW milestone was passed by the UK this month and shows the tenacity of the UK, renewable-energy wise. Although it is still a long way from Germany, Spain, and the US, this development shows how much more the UK can do in terms of wind energy, having a lot of off-shore wind farm potentials. We are just waiting for the UK government to get swept away by the idea. Read more here.
