Virginia Thinks About Offshore Wind Farms
Filed in archive Wind by Greg Cruey on September 27, 2009
The Virginian-Pilot ran a story earlier this month on the possibility that Virginia may set up offshore wind farms.
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine has taken his first formal step in developing offshore wind power, requesting the formation of a task force to guide the leasing of federal waters off the Virginia coast.

The formation of the task force is the first step in developing wind energy in the Hampton Roads area, according to a news release from the governor's office.
Virginia has a growing commitment to renewable energy. The Pilot article says that an offshore wind project could create up to 1,000 jobs.
