Underway Now: World Future Energy Summit, in Abu Dhabi

January 20th, 2009

TreeHugger pointed out to me yesterday that the World Future Energy Summit is underway at the moment in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Renewable energy has become big business in the UAE. The country has made a decision to start a renewable energy sector for their economy – from scratch.

Some 15,000 delegates are here this week for the high powered, three-day conference, which will explore current and future options for renewable energy technologies, and strategies for their implementation. Also on the agenda is Masdar City, Abu Dhabi's futuristic ecological city project, and a testing ground for many of the ideas being discussed here.

The conference is hosting reps from 30 countries and 300 companies. Some 15,000 delegates are attending the Summit.
