Time To Mark Your Calendars, November 6, 2006

The place: Nairobi

The event: the United Nation's Climate Change Talks

On November 6, 2006, governments from all over the world will be meeting to talk about climate change, policy, and hopefully affirmative action towards the global objective of addressing abrupt climate change.

Colleagues from the Rainforest preservation groups are lobbying to put in the concern regarding the destruction of protected lands for agricultural production. In Southeast Asia, this is a serious concern as forests, peat lands, and other sensitive areas are decreasing at a staggering rate on a daily basis. Areas like Borneo, Sumatra, and Java in indonesia are reportedly suffering from irresponsible land conversion, thus contributing more to ecological destruction than otherwise.

Hopefully, the talks don't break down like the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade that happened earlier this year.
