The Newest Casualty of Climate Change: Sunderbans Islands
Already 12 islands have disappeared at Sunderbans delta, according to a group of scientists from the Jadaypur University. An estimated 70,000 residents may turn into environmental refugees in the next 14 years unless action is taken up. According to Professor Sugata Hazra, of the School of Oceanographic Studies of Jadaypur University,

"A preliminary survey reveals that around 7,000 people have been displaced from their original habitat in Sunderbans over the last 30 years. They have turned into environmental refugees due to the sea-level rise, coastal erosion, cyclonelinks and coastal flooding."

Will we wait until all these refugees wash up on our shores for help? Act now. Read more here.
