To encourage research into hydrogen, the US legislative bodies have created the H-Prize, a $10 million dollar grand prize contest that seeks to create an environment for breakthrough hydrogen research in the US. Already passed the US House of Representatives on a 416-6 vote, the bill will be introduced to the Senate in the coming weeks.
Under the proposed program, there will be four prizes of $1 million a year for technological advances in hydrogen production, utilization, distribution, and storage. Those that can make a working hydrogen prototype gets a cool $4 million too. Additional incentive for scientists, researcher, car manufacturers, and tweakers/thinkers out there who think they can put up with the challenge.
