Tata Power of India to Build 100 MW Wind Energy with the Asian Development Bank

India has emerged as the fifth largest producer of wind energy in the world. It soon may become the biggest wind producer in Asia, as the Asian Development Bank has extended financing support to develop a 100-megawatt energy plant in India, according to this report. Specifically, the project is being developed by India's Tata Power which will build the power facility at the Maharashtra state with help from the ADB to the tune of $80 M loan.

This development addresses in part, the country's huge demand for energy which is brought about by the country's soaring economic growth. With 200 sites identified by the Indian government as suitable for wind energy generation, expect to see more projects like this mushroom in India, where the requirement for energy and the renewable energy targets far exceed current supply.
