Science and Politics of the Climate as reported
The debate on climate change is taking a more serious edge as the scientific community is solidifying their revised stand on the 'climate change' issue for official reporting.

While the scientific community formularizes their consensus, this year's major political debate is about to start as 190 countries meet in Germany to bridge gaps on the 'Kyoto Protocol' noting that the U.S. is among the outsiders.

As Reported by (Reuters):

COLOGNE, Germany - Global temperatures may be increasing more quickly than first thought, and evidence is stronger that humans are causing the rise, the World Bank's Chief Scientist Robert Watson told Reuters on Thursday.

Scientists widely accept that climate change is happening and could cause more extreme weather, global warming and rising sea levels.

But the scale of change and its cause are hotly contested, as blocs of countries including Europe and the United States are split on how quickly the world should act.

Fri May 12, 2006 - 190 nations seek to bridge policy gaps on climate
OSLO - About 190 nations meet in Germany next week to try to bridge vast policy gaps between the United States and its main allies over how to combat climate change amid growing evidence that the world is warming.

The May 15-16 "dialogue" will involve around 40 rich nations which are capping emissions of heat-trapping gases under the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol, as well as outsiders such as the United States and developing nations.

"Scientific evidence of the dramatic effects of human-induced climate change is becoming stronger," said Richard Kinley, acting head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat which will host the meeting in a Bonnlinks hotel. Full Article
