Ride the Wind (Never Coming Back Until We Touch the Midnight Sun)
Filed in archive Wind by Reden Rodriguez on September 25, 2006
picThe title of this post I got from the old glam-rock quarter Poison song "Ride the Wind". But the spirit of the song, this news from Reuters is pretty much the same.

Wind power could generate 30 percent of the world's electricity by 2030 according to greenpeace. Wind now accounts for 0.8% of the world's electricity supply but is growing so fast that it is projected to provide an additional 29% in just 25 years.

Wind has become the most attractive renewable energy source for countries like Germany, Spain, the US, India, and Denmark. These countries, and others that are now rushing to develop their renewable energy policies, are looking at high oil prices and global warming concerns and have seen the benefits of this non-polluting, perpetual, never-ending energy source.

In addition, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), a group that binds more than 1500 producers, users, and promoters of wind energy said that wind energy utilization will displace 1.5 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2020.

The technology is mature. The technology is proven. The technology is strong. Wind energy pays. So tell that the Australians to get a move on, cause they are wasting all that wind energy. Read more here.
