Nigeria: Villagers Begin Appreciating Solar Power
The state of Lagos in nigerialinks has recently initiated a pilot solar energy project that will affect 5,000 residents of the said state. Before this electrification project, Lagos, which is a growing commercial destination, has never had the benefits of electricity.

Lagos is an off-grid location, as is 19 other areas that will be electrified by the solar project by the end of the year. Nigerian authorities estimate that around 1.2 Million US dollars is needed to connect each of these areas to the national electricity grid, but only 83 thousand US dollars is needed to put up an equivalent solar powered infrastructure per village.

This development is a big boost for rural Nigerian villages. Electricity can now be used for lighting, water pumping, and irrigation.
