New 25 MW Wind Farm in British Columbia

Montreal-based wind turbine manufacturer AAER Inc. has entered into an agreement with British-Columbian wind farm developer Katabatic Power Corporation, in an effort to establish and sell wind-generated electricity in the area. According to Jonathan Raymond, COO of Katabatic Power Corp., AAER's turbines are proven and ideal for their project.

The transaction was reported to cost $80 million in favor of AAER, including all maintenance costs. But Katabatic Power seems pleased. With the intention of setting up other wind-powered generating facilities in British Columbia, the company feels that partnering with a strong and able wind equipment manufacturer positions them well over the long term.

    A vertical turbine picks up wind from all directions. Magnetic suspension minimises frictional drag. Large mass maximises the flywheel effect.
