Palo Alto based Nanosolar Inc. will put up its thin-film solar cell manufacturing plant in San Jose, California. The proposed $102 million plant will produce an equivalent of 400 megawatts of solar cells each year, enough to power 300 thousand homes, according to this article from SFGate.Com. This development marks two equally important progressions, the first being Silicon Valley again fostering its womb to earth-changing movements (i.e. the recent information revolution and now renewable energy technology) and the second is the development of thin non-silicon based solar cells. These two is enough to continue the renewable energy new-revolution in Silicon Valley started by high profile companies such as Google a few months back.
Will Silicon Valley be changed to Solar Valley? We will find out soon!!!
