Japan Tries to Catch Up on Solar Power Generation
Filed in archive Solar on May 15, 2007
Japan was the world's leading solar power generating country until 2005 when Germany eclipsed its position and became the foremost solar generating country. The race however, remains close with Germany accounting for 39 percent of the world's solar generating capacity while Japan follows at 38 percent. Experts are looking at the change in the Japanese government's solar policy, which is now carried on a local level instead of national, according to this report. Will Japan get back on its feet in terms of solar generating capacity or will it continue its biofuel quest? Where are Japan's core competencies?
