Jetstream Wind Inc., a New Mexico energy and technology company, announced Wednesday that it plans to develop what it calls "the world's first utility-scale, zero-emissions hydrogen power plant ."
The $219 million plant would use electricity from wind, solar and other renewable energy sources to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen would then be burned in a turbine – similar to those used by natural gas-fired power plants – to generate enough electricity to power about 6,000 homes and businesses.
The plant would also capture purified oxygen and have the capability of storing it as either a liquid or a gas to be sold for medical use.

There’s also a hydrogen power plant being built in Dubai, Italy and California so it will be interesting to see which one goes online first.
