That is what this article says and according to the article, the Vatican's Council for Justice and Peace just issued this statement in reaction to today's hottest topics – climate change. The Holy Catholic Church is now taking the same statement other major religions have taken over the past decade in response to climate change, that we are stewards of the Earth and that God wants us to protect it.
Thinking back, I think the Beatitudes offered something similar, but it said the "Meek Shall Inherit The Earth" or what would be left of it. Let the aware and proactive take stewardship now, I say.
