Wind

LiveScience reports that windmills that could float hundreds of miles out at sea could one day produce energy needs sans the eyesore (what eyesore?).
Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the National renewable Energy Laboratory have designed a wind turbine that can be attached to a platform that could be moored anywhere in the open sea. Sounds too sci-fi? Not really, claims Paul Sclavounos, the MIT professor who was involved in the design.
At a 5.0 megawatt production capability, this floating windmill is no joke. I wonder how you navigate around them though. Sailboats anyone?
