Carbon Capture
Capture carbon from industrial processes, pump it into the ground, or pass it through seawaterlinks to diffuse it. These are the suggestions of a study from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (this and nuclear electricity generation) to save the planet. You can find the details of this report in this article from the Australian News. I did not read about the estimated cost of doing so but will look it up and tell you what I find.
