Canada's Largest Wind Farm
The largest wind farm has recently been completed by Brookfield Power in Canada. Called the Prince Wind Energy Project located in Sault Ste. Marie, the wind farm boasts of 126 wind turbines producing almost 200 MW of renewable energy. This development is a significant breakthrough for Canada with Ontario having almost 1,200 MW of energy coming from renewables. According to Energy Minister Dwight Duncan, this will help make Ontario a leading wind power producer in Canada.

For long time energy producer Brookfield Power, this is another feather in their cap. The company produces energy from numerous resources including 138 hydroelectric generating facilities and other power generating projects along river systems. Read more about this story from the Ottawa Business Journal.

This development has enabled Canada to double its wind energy capacity in 2006, meeting the energy requirements of a total of 406,000 homes, helping Canada with its economic as well as its environmental requirements. Read more about the Canadian Wind Energy Association's report here.
