Alternative energy people look to fuel like Biodiesel as the next wave, but is this what we need?

I have looked closely at biodiesel, and there is a Board that studies these things http://www.biodiesel.org/ and they seem to think they are better than sliced bread for coming up with this stuff.

There are some pro and cons to everything, but it interests me that the emission standards of biodiesel is lower, but still exists, than standard automotive fuels.

What I am getting at is Zero Emission Vehicles, isn't that what we should be getting closer to, not another liquid fuel replacement for standard chemical engines.

Many people think that electric cars have been stymied because of regulations, I am not one of them. I do have to ask though, is our currently technology ready for a full electric vehicle? I think it is.

We have so many types of power generation out there that the cost to run an electric car is at most 1 cent per mile, especially if you are just tooling around town, and lets face it guys a muscle car is just as cool if it is running on electric, petroleum products or last night McDonald's meal.

Are we hooked on putting some kind of smelly liquid into out cars? Maybe another question to ask is, why are we still using this crap? It has been polluting the air, creating chemical messes all over the place and is right now tearing the economy aprt trying to figure out how to avoid paying almost three dollars a gallon for something that we try to avoid touching because it is toxic as all get out.

Ok I guess if you want to spend a lot of money, but it looks as though the prices for these wonder cars is coming down a bit
